HWT Annual Report 2015-16

In the twelve months from August 2015 to August 2016 the Hedgerley Wood Trust has once more achieved all its learning objectives this year: enabling the public, and/or relevant professionals interfacing with the public, to deepen their knowledge, understanding and skills of topics outlined in our mission statement.

HWT:
• Covered the 2016 Paris Climate Summit with 2 dozen multimedia reports
• Held a meeting with our advisor, Professor Joe Smith of the Open University, to review the current work and advise on the future plans of the Trust
• Began work on a 152-point ‘Learning Points’ document for the NHS on suicide bereavement sensitivity for first and early responders
• Produced an educational video for a US academic conference in May 2016 on climate psychology
• Worked further on our major documentary on a globally networked renewable energy solution to reduce climate change
• Held a meeting with our advisor, Simon Maxwell, former Director and now Emeritus Fellow of the world-renowned Institute of Development Studies in Sussex and Chair of the Climate & Development Knowledge Network, to review the current work and advise on the future plans of the Trust
• Arranging a further meeting with Simon Maxwell to enable him to meet the founder of the renewable energy project central to our climate change documentary
• Created a new website laying out the work of the Trust, and another for its associated work project, OneClimate
• Produced an educational video on the origins and work of a charity providing the public with healthcare information
• Held a meeting with our advisor, Christopher Robertson of Re-vision and of the Climate Psychology Alliance, to review the work and advise on the future plans of the Trust
• Filmed and interacted with panellists at an event produced by New Internationalist magazine at Ruskin College, Oxford, discussing topics outlined in our mission statement
• Filmed, and was guest speaker on, a podcast on the work of the trust and on topics relevant to the Trust, including climate change and global poverty.
